Please email  all the following in ONE EMAIL to defensarincon@gmail.com

  1. Write out what specifically is the LIFE THREATNEING condition in your initial email to us and include that description in the next step, the post you do to FB – in both include several photos of the animal
  2. Send us a Facebook Link to your PUBLIC post with a DONATE button to Defensa Animal de Rincon or Defensa Animal de Puerto Rico – there must be a BUTTON like below photo.   In that post explain the story of your animal’s needs with  lots of photos – explain in detail the situation.  Include map markers & phone numbers if they apply. In the post explicitly ask your friends to consider a donation and a share to help Defensa continue this work.   We receive no financial help by any government, city or grant.  We work on social media to raise every dollar used to help hundreds of animal rescuers like yourself.   Attached the official receipts or estimates from the Vet Office if it applies to your situation

2 ) Animal Name, Your name , email  and phone number This will be the person taking the dog or the cat to the Vet and/or meeting the Vet at their home/farm

3 ) Which Vet Clinic do you *prefer* – or if you already went to the Vet Include the Official Invoice & Proof of Payment

  • Dogs & Cats have 3 choices are  Aguada AMC, Isabela Pet Vet or Mayaguez Miradero    –  If none of these work for you tell us what Vet you’d like to go to
  • Horses we only pay for services by Dr Ramos – he has a limited mobile clinic services & he has full services/facilities to see horses at his Clinic in Hatillo – you can schedule both by contacting his clinic directly Hospital Veterinario San Francisco de Asís

4) By participating in our program you agree to the following

  • You will take lots of photos and videos daily and send them to us as long as you are wanting more financial help
  • You accept and understand the animal is your responsibility, it is NOT Defensa’s responsibility – this includes deciding on who will adopt your rescued animal if you are not keeping
  • You release all photos and videos you send to Defensa to be used anywhere

Adoption fees are donations to help support the care of animals with Furiend Flight. If you were to pay a similar fee for an animal through a breeder or pet store, not only would you not be helping a pet in need, you’d be paying for intentional breeding that has led to an overpopulation of pets.

Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animal while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The fee also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.

An adoption fee can end up saving you money! Shelters and rescue groups usually cover initial veterinary costs to prepare the pet for a new home. Adoption fees often include:

  • Veterinary wellness visit and exam $50-100
  • Spaying or neutering $150-400
  • Distemper vaccination $20-30×2
  • Rabies vaccination $15-25
  • Heartworm test (for dogs) $15-35
  • Feline Leukemia/FIV test (for cats) $30-50
  • Flea/tick treatment $50-200
  • Microchip $25-80
  • Deworming $20-50
  • Collar and an identification tag $5-10

TOTAL: $425-880 (Few shelters or rescue groups would ask this much for an adoption fee.)

SOME SAVED NEEDS SURGERY AND UNPLANNED:

·         EMERGENCY VET VISIT $120-150 TO BE SEEN

·         HEARTWORM TREATMENT $300-850

·         FHO SURGERY $1000

·         UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION APPROX $200

·         ICU $1400 PER NIGHT

·         PARVO /DISTEMPER $3000 MINIMUM

Free pets usually come with no medical care, so while you may initially save on an adoption fee, the medical costs will add up quickly. Purchased pets are also often not spayed or neutered and may not have a full set of vaccinations, adding to the expense.Furiend Flight operates in several countries around the world, including India, Uganda, and Haiti.
